Bearsted and Thurnham Rifle Club
About the club
History
The club was founded in 1901, making us one of the joint oldest clubs in Great Britain.
Description of the club
We cater for members wanting to shoot both small and full bore including black powder (although we only have facilities to enable members to shoot .22 onsite at our home range). Home Office Approved and both NSRA and NRA affiliated allowing us to shoot both National and County competitions run by these organisations.
The Range
We are open most evenings from 7.30pm to approximately 10pm (apart from Thursday as we hire the range out to another club) and weekend by arrangement for disciplines such as Prone, Benchrest and Lightweight sporting rifle. We would invite potential new members to call the contacts listed below for more information.
Membership
We are open to everyone including juniors over the age of 14 as long as they are accompanied by an adult. Due to the structure of the range building we are not wheelchair accessible or disabled friendly.
We offer a structured probation police approved package, covering range safety and safe firearm usage, with use of a club gun and qualified coaching throughout the probation period. On successful completion of the probation programme all new members are encouraged to participate in regular team competition shooting where all abilities are catered for.
